If you set out to design a fairy-tale medieval town it would be hard to improve on central Bruges (Brugge in Dutch). Picturesque cobbled lanes and dreamy canals link exceptionally photogenic market squares lined with soaring towers, historic churches and old whitewashed almshouses. And there’s plenty of it.

Experience the ‘chocolate and lace’ city of Bruges – famed for its picturesque canals and mediaeval architecture;

Bruges, discover the maze of waterways and romantic bridges: take a horse drawn carriage ride or perhaps climb the Belfry’s 366 steps for stunning views. (Admissions not included).

It may be an idea to get an evening meal, the main square has an abundance of restaurants, however, beware they are expensive, travel a short distance down a side street, the quality will be the same but will cost less.

The historic town of Bruges Belgium (Brugge) is a gorgeous Gothic city located near the Belgium coast. In the 11th century, Bruges was one of the world’s largest cities. Today, it is a popular tourist destination that features famous landmarks, tourist attractions and some great museums and art galleries.

Visitors to Brugge can enjoy bike rides along dykes, strolls through local parks and shopping throughout the town. Bruges is also acclaimed for its great chocolate and local beer.

Recently, Bruges has become widely known around the globe, thanks to the Hollywood movie “In Bruges” which stars actor Colin Farrell.
